Sun Microsystems has released a brand new stable version of their Solaris Unix based platform. The new distribution is open-source and looks to compete with popular Linux distributions. Sun is looking to increase sales by encouraging a large developer community around the new open-source version of Solaris. They hope that if more developers can get their hands on the source code, they will develop more applications for the platform. Check it out below, the new stable version is 2008.05.
